The Sultana Project

The Sultana Project, a novel by R. M. Wheeler, is a story of romance, adventure, and greed based on the worst maritime disaster in American History that happened ten days after Abraham Lincoln’s assassination, when a steamboat built for 376 but carrying over 2,400 exploded on the Mississippi River just outside Memphis, killing more than 1,800 people, mostly Union soldiers on their way home from Vicksburg.
